Wright's Tavern - View this location on map ![]() This colonial tavern witnessed two methods employed by American colonials in opposing English rule. The first was political: In October, 1774, 300 delegates met here as the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts and determined to cease paying taxes and to authorize provisions for armed forces. The second was military: On April 19, 1775 Minute Men gathered at Wright's Tavern in the morning, and British Redcoats rested there later in the day.
