Wingert House - View this location on map

This modest building is one of the few surviving early farmhouses located within the Chicago city limits. It was built as the residence of John Wingert, one of a number of immigrants who, in seeking refuge from religious persecution in Germany, created a settlement called Canfield on the prairie frontier. The building has been added onto several times, including the distinctive two-story, Italianate-style section.
