Watts Towers - View this location on map ![]() Constructed between 1921 and 1954 by Italian immigrant Simon Rodia (?-1965), the Watts Towers can be described as both sculpture and as architecture. Primarily, they are among the finest examples of American Naive art. Simon Rodia came to art in a totally spontaneous way and executed this complex scuplture over a 33-year period; the two tallest towers most likely contain the longest slender reinforced concrete columns in the world constructed without bolts, welds, or rivets. The Towers resemble the portable festival towers of Nola, Italy, near Rodia's birthplace. 1765 East 107th Street, Los Angeles, California Historical |
