This early Georgian frame house (1735-40) is associated with the Trumbull family. The house was built as a wedding present for Jonathan Trumbull, who served as Governor of Connecticut from 1769 to 1784, and is the birthplace of John Trumbull, portraitist and painter of historical subjects. In 1817, John Trumbull was commissioned to paint four Revolutionary War scenes for the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol.
