
St. Luke's Episcopal Church - View this location on map ![]() On Thanksgiving Day, 1879, the first services were held in this church, founded and led by the Reverend Dr. Alexander Crummell (1819-1898), founder of the American Negro Academy and one of the most talent and articulate Black scholars of the 19th century.
