Russian Fort - View this location on map

Begun sometime in 1817, this large stone structure is the most impressive reminder of the attempts by the Russian-American Company to gain a position of influence in the Hawaiian Islands. Evidently, Fort Elizabeth was not entirely completed when the Russian and Aleutian settlers were expelled in the fall of 1817 and Hawaiian troops occupied the fort.
