Rogers, John, Studio - View this location on map

Sculptor John Rogers, once described as 'honest and as inelegant as a stable boy,' was one of America's most popular -- and prolific -- artists. During a 33-year career, he produced nearly 80,000 plaster copies of his 86 'Rogers Groups.' These genre figures depicted 'the little moments in life, humorous and sentimental, events which make up a lifetime.' His statuettes 'Coming to the Parson,' 'Neighboring Pews,' and 'The Checker Players,' decorated Victorian parlors throughout the land. He used this studio from 1876 to the end of his life.
