Renwick Gallery - View this location on map

Begun in 1859, this French Renaissance building by James Renwick successively served as a Civil War quartermasters headquarters, the original Corcoran Gallery, and the home of the Court of Claims. Now a Smithsonian Institution museum, it was built for William Wilson Corcoran (1798-1888), one of America's first great art patrons, to house his personal collection.
