Palmer, Captain Nathaniel B., House - View this location on map

The Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer House is nationally significant as the home of the Yankee mariner who discovered Antarctica, the last world frontier, in 1820. The house also is an outstanding Connecticut example of mid-nineteenth century domestic architecture. Its transitional style marked the end of the Greek Revival period and anticipated the Victorian Italianate common after the Civil War.
