Modjeska House - View this location on map Madame Helena Modjeska (1840-1909), the internationally renowned shakesperean actress and Polish patriot, was one of the first 'stars' to settle in Southern Calfornia. The Modjeska House, located on the ranch she dubbed 'The Forest of Arden' (from Shakespere's As You Like It), was her most important home (1888-1906) during her long years of exile.
