Jones, John Paul, House - View this location on map For two years (1781-1782), this large rectangular 2-1/2 story wood boardinghouse was the residence of John Paul Jones (1747-1792), Scotish-born American naval officer and hero of the Revolution. When called upon by the English Commander of the SERAPIS to strike his colors, Jones replied 'I have not yet begun to fight!' His BONHOMME RICHARD defeated the SERAPIS in the ensuing battle.
