Hibernian Hall - View this location on map Hibernian Hall was one of the last of Dudley Square s lively Irish social clubs and dance halls, serving Roxbury s Irish community during the first half of the twentieth century. Built in 1913 for the Hibernian Building Association of Roxbury, this building served as a lodge for several divisions of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH). The AOH began in 1836 in New York as a response to anti-Irish sentiment, and later shifted to charitable work and the promotion and preservation of Irish cultural heritage.
