Golden Gate Bridge - View this location on map

When it was completed in 1937, the Golden Gate Bridge was the longest single span bridge in the world. The bridge is 1.7 miles and the span between the two towers is 4,200 feet. It's painted Inernational Orange and the paint crew is always working. Free to walk or bike across (Sausalito is about 2.5 miles beyond the other side), it's free to drive across to Marin County, but $5 to return by car.
