
First World Series Site - View this location on map ![]() On October 1, 1903, The Boston Americans and the Pittsburgh Pirates played the first World Series game on this site at the Huntington Avenue Grounds. Pittsburgh won, 7-3 before more than 16,000 fans, but Boston eventually won the series, 5 games to 3, with the final victory coming at the Grounds on October 13. The success of this series inaugurated more than a century of championship baseball competition between the American and National Leagues.
