Dana, James Dwight, House - View this location on map

For much of his life, this was the home of James Dwight Dana (1813-1895), a professor of geology at Yale who is credited with broadening the scope of that science to include the study of the geologic history of the world. Dana developed his worldwide concept during his participation in the Wilkes Expedition of 1838-42.
