Clifton Terrace - View this location on map

Built by Harry Wardman in 1914-15, Clifton Terrace is a significant example of the noted Washington builder s work, as well as the apartment building designs of architects Frank Russell White and A.M. Schneider. Inspired by the ideals of the garden city movement, Clifton Terrace is a large, three-building complex of Classical Revival buildings sited on one of the city s most important streetcar thoroughfares. In conjunction with other apartment buildings along 14th Street, Clifton Terrace helped formed an impressive corridor of modestly appointed apartment buildings that had enormous appeal to Washington s expanding federal and middle income workforce in the early 1900s.
