Church of the Ascension - View this location on map

Built in 1840-41, this is one of the earliest churches designed by Richard Upjohn, at about the same time as Trinity Church on Wall Street. A smaller and more austere English Gothic plan, this church is well known for its magnificent reredos, stained glass, and altar mural by Louis St. Gaudens and John LaFarge.
