Church With a Past - View this location on map ![]() 'It has history, it has literary significance, it has a tragic love story. But the thing to notice at Christ Church, Frederica, built in 1884 by a lumber magnate mourning the death of his wife on their honeymoon, is the thick, lambent lawn, one of the great unnoticed triumphs of Southern horticulture. Christ Church, Frederica (912-638-8683) was a setting in a novel by Eugenia Price, who is buried in the graveyard there. The oldest grave dates to 1803. Across the street is a wooded garden dedicated to Charles and John Wesley, who preached on St. Simons in the 1730's as Anglicans; they later returned to England and founded Methodism.''
