
Cabildo (The) - View this location on map ![]() Constructed in 1795, this structure, the most important surviving monument of the period of Spanish domination in the territory, originally housed the administrative and legislative council which ruled Spanish Louisiana. Originally a massive two story building of stuccoed brick, the Cabildo exhibits the strong influence of Spanish architecture in the Louisiana Territory.
