Arthur's Tavern - View this location on map

Reputedly the oldest running jazz club in the city, Arthur's Tavern on Grove Street aspires to shake its 1937 reputation in favor of some avant garde, Japanese jazz. It is also the self-described 'Home of the Bird' (as in Charlie Parker) and continues to present Dixieland, Chicago blues, and straight-ahead combo jazz to supplement its artsier stuff. Arthur's can get overcrowded due in part to its prime location in the West Village and also to its principled lack of cover charge, but you'll find a show there most every night of the year.
