
Arrow Rock - View this location on map ![]() The Missouri River crossing at Arrow Rock, noted by French cartographers (1723) and Lewis and Clark (1804), figured prominently in the very early trail-breaking expeditions that opened the West. In 1817 a permanent ferry was established at what was to become the starting point for the traders from Old Franklin and Boon's Lick who operated on the Santa Fe Trail.
