An Accessible Monarch - View this location on map

'You should not leave Long Beach without paying homage to the Queen Mary (562-435-3511). Despite her age (she made her first oceanic trip in 1936), the venerable liner retains much of her allure. Docked and decommissioned, the 1,019-foot-long, 12-deck ship is a floating hotel and a major tourist draw. Walk the worn teak decks and peer into the sumptuous staterooms, and it takes only a small mental leap to making an Atlantic crossing alongside Clark Gable and Marlene Dietrich. During the Ghosts and Legends tour, darker pages, both real and imagined, of the ship's past are brought to life. General admission is $23 for adults, $12 for children 5 to 11. Stay for an elaborate buffet brunch in the Grand Salon, the ship's original first-class dining-room, a stunning space with a marble fireplace and a 30-foot ceiling. Brunch hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday only. Adults $32; children (4 to 11 years) $12. Reservations can be made at (562) 499-1606.'' New York Times
