Ahi in the Wedding Chamber - View this location on map

'Back in Hilo, look up at the spiky Murano-glass chandeliers at Restaurant Kaikodo (808-961-2558). Owned and enthusiastically decorated by a pair of Manhattan art dealers, Kaikodo is in a century-old former Masonic building that also displays East Asian art. Take a seat in the English-style bar and order a lilikoi (passion fruit) margarita rimmed with li hing (dried pickled plum) powder ($6). Ask to have dinner in the 200-year-old Chinese wedding bedchamber, decorated with courtship scenes. Start with ahi on the rocks ($10) or the Big Island roll, which includes crab, mango and Maui onion ($7.50). Entrees ($16 to $27) come flavored with shiitake, daikon and mango-mustard sauce and are served with ulu (breadfruit).'' New York Times
