A Bit of Havana - View this location on map

' Los Cubanos restaurant downtown (408-279-0134) looks forgettable from out front, but once inside, the walls tell all: a giant map of Cuba, full of reverent detail; a painting of José Martí on horseback, sword drawn; even a full collection of pre-Castro Cuban currency. Edenia and Alcides Calvo left Cuba in 1970, but the food is as good as you can find in Havana, and the style and attitude are enthusiastically Cuban. Oxtail in Spanish red wine ($16.50) is a house specialty, and lechón asado ($13.95), a traditional Cuban dish of pork slowly cooked in its juices, is also delicious. Finish with a café cubano ($2.45), espresso with sugar, all but mandatory.'' New York Times
